ABOUT THIS BOOK
When Dr. Clark wrote the first book on her testing device "The Syncrometer� Science Laboratory Manual" in 2000, she explained how to make and use it, along with 161 experiments and a multitude of other information.
Throughout the years, as she continued with her research using the Syncrometer�, she accumulated 61 more experiments that she wanted to share with her fellow testers. It has now been completed and we are introducing it as "Syncrometer� Science Laboratory Manual 2." There is some pertinent material repeated in this book from some of Dr. Clark's other books, but the experiments are all new.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hulda Regehr Clark, an independent research scientist. Dr. Clark has a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, and the Master of Arts with High Honors from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Then she studied for two years at McGill University before attending the University of Minnesota and obtaining her Doctorate degree in cell physiology in 1958.
After doing government sponsored research for almost ten years at Indiana University, she began private consulting in nutrition in 1979. She continued her studies to earn a Naturopathy Degree and an amateur radio license.
The freedom to pose her own questions and pursue her own ideas led to the breakthrough discoveries described in this book.

Oldie but Goodie

Just what I needed - a how-to book that can stay in the shop next to my lathe. The cover is rubberized and should be easy to keep smudge-free. The writing style is typical pre-war American - every reader must be a young man starting his apprenticeship in the machine-shop trade, and therefore will benefit from helpful guidance in the areas of workplace neatness, respect for authority, comportment, and hygiene. All that aside, it provides an easy to comprehend picture of what a lathe is all about and how to bring out its capabilities. I'm an old man just starting out my golden years with a 1966 Mori Seiki engine lathe, and with no prior machine shop knowledge I should be able to do well with this book showing the way.

Great, reasonably priced reprint of a classic!

With an inexpensive reprint like this available, I see no reason to read the darned thing as a .pdf on my computer. Much more enjoyable this way, and it is also easier to carry out to the lathe when I feel like it. I only wish someone offered a similar-quality, similarly-priced reprint of the Atlas Manual of Lathe Operations. Kudos to Martino Publishing.

Dangerously Inaccurate

Prentice-Hall is notorious for sloppy textbooks, and this book is in the company tradition. The text was not edited, proofread, or fact-checked. The glossary entry for wash sales is egregious, but almost any page provides examples. All information in this book is therefore suspect.

From an Ex-Gang Member

I am an ex-gang member and I have read this book, written by Al Valdez. Before I write about the contents of the book, I would like to say something about the author. Al Valdez along with his special target gang unit were harassing me for a long time in the neighborhood, but to my surprise the target unit wasn't about putting me in jail, but giving me a chance to escape. Thanks to the motivation of this man and his special unit, I have been able to leave the gangs and create a new start on life. The book was extremely well written and is true in all of its aspects. I recommend this book to all parents who are struggling to comprehend their child's decision to live on the wild side. I recommend this book to teachers who are not coming from the surrounding community in which they teach and who are attempting to understand the life styles and decisions of their pupils. Finally, I recommend this book to law enforcement agents and large companies in order for them to better work with the community and to better comprehend the people they are working for and with.

Great content, but get it cheaper!

This book is an excellent introduction to special relativity. It very carefully distinguishes between the different types of time measurements. Also, it is one of the few introductory books that actually teaches the reader how to make use of spacetime diagrams. Advanced topics such as transformations of electromagnetic fields are not covered, but this this book will give you a strong basis for further study.

If want to get the same content for about $20 less, buy Unit R of Thomas Moore's Six Ideas That Shaped Physics. It seems that A Traveler's Guide to Spacetime became one volume in that series. Also, the Six Ideas book is in the second edition, but this book has not been updated.

One of the most easily understandable books in physics!!

Not only did Thomas Moore write a great book, he is also an excellent teacher. It is relativity made easy. Be sure to look for the Six Ideas that Shaped Physics if you really want to learn general physics. Moore emphasizes the models of physics, not the equations generate dby these models.

Excellent consolidation book! Fun!

This is a fantastic book that unlike most others out there does a great job of putting you in the driver's seat - it's clinically oriented and as such presents patients to you asks you critical questions that you should be asking yourself. It's amazing because of it's completeness; if the patient has a specific set of symptoms the book reminds you that the differential must include other, non-micro diagnoses.

A wonderful book that I went through with my study group and the best part is that it acts also as a springboard for discussion of a great many other things. Very wonderfully written and FUN! especially if you have an intermediate to good understanding of micro before you start. This book will assume you have a minimal knowledge of micro, so it makes a perfect companion to ridiculously simple as that book is the opposite - all the basic facts are there, skipping the application. This book solidifies.

She is the co-author of Simon Says Pay Attention: Help for Children with ADHD.�She lives in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Daniel Yeager, LCSW, runs the Yeager Center for Children and Families and is a founding member of the Louisiana Association for Play Therapy. Amazingly well written with fantastic real life examples!

I have a son with multiple diagnoses including Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD and a mood disorder. I love how this book looks at the whole child and not a single diagnosis. It was a fast read with real life tools and strategies. It explains how executive functions are the glue that hold the mind together.

Maybe a higher rating for a child development professional, but a bit too long for me. It did provide some framework for a parent or relative to have an understanding of the subject, but there was too much detail that clouded the subject
