Leadership is Everyone's Role

What a wonderful book! I like the style of writing; As a reader I feel like I'm with you on a journey through the history and theories of leadership! I learned that leadership is not a role, but is an important part of everyone's role. That is so true and yet I never thought about it quite like that before. Also, I like all the tables and the lists at the end of the book. These are helpful references, and enlightening in themselves. Great job on a great topic!

Finally, a book that connects the dots for today's leaders.

If you are looking for one book that brings together the wisdom, research, and practices from all of the latest leadership books on the market today, this is that book. I have read most of those great leadership books and I always learn something new to improve my leadership capabilities. However, Gary DePaul takes us two steps further. First, he conducted a meta-analysis of what all of these leading leadership experts are saying. DePaul studied the works of amazing authors we are familiar with, like Sinek, Kouzes and Posner, Maxwell, Freiberg and Freiberg, Kaufman, and Collins, as well as lesser known and equally insightful authors like Rummler, Binder, and Silber. What he discovered was you could categorize the wisdom of this crowd of leadership experts into nine practices. Second, even more, DePaul dove even deeper into these nine practices to provide practical rules, models, techniques, and tools to help apply these nine practices in the real world. This book connects the leadership dots and even adds more practice dots to connect the reader with 21st Century leadership thinking and practices.
I have a been a leader and leader-of-leaders for many years. I taught military officer candidates how to lead, trained those on active duty how to become better leaders, and even helped revised the leadership curriculum for the Air Force's office candidate commissioning program that is used at 148 colleges and univeristies accross the nation. In my 30-plus years as a leader, trainer of leaders, and, hopefully, positive leadership role model, this is the best leadership book I have read.

DePaul's book provides easy to understand and apply principles and practices

Leadership can be so misleading and misunderstood BUT after you have had a chance to read Dr. DePaul's book, that will change for you. As a professor at UNC Charlotte in the Belk College of Business, I am always looking for the most current, impactful and interesting content for my students. Dr. DePaul's book provides easy to understand and apply principles and practices. He has also spoken to several of my classes and the value of 'think differently about leadership' has stuck with me and with them. Thank you, Dr. DePaul.
